No Venice Beach isn't loaded with art galleries and argument centers. You will not find any Van Goghs, and politicians do not end here regularly. The art and the concepts are where they fit, on the street and amongst the people. What you will find are spray painted designs, detailed sand sculptures, huge murals, and delicate tattoo artists. You will find people there only for the purpose of communicating their ideas, and are willing to talk with you about the issues, not only preach to you. Another reason I love this side of existence on the beach, of course, is because the matter most talked about is the legalization of marijuana. I did minimize the galleries here to a level, but let me tell you there are some very great ones. The Julie Rico Gallery showcases some very useful psychedelic paintings and sculptures, and Collectibles Antiques and Collectibles is a big mix of consignment shops, collectibles, bookstores and gallery. Getting away from those two places of the beach there are many other things to do. A very outdoorsy, running type of people goes this beach, and you can essentially find anything you need to do here in a physical sense. First down there is the beach and water. You could catch some rays, work or walk along the beach or even go surfing if you do not have one) (you can hire a board nearby. People are constantly cycling, skateboarding up and down the boardwalk and rollerblading. Accommodations are rather inexpensive and easy to come by. Of training Venice Beach is also home to the popular Muscle Beach. For a few bucks you could lift weights among the monsters that come here or just sit back and people watch.
The complex also contains a large outdoor basketball center where surfaces are almost always available. Court one hosts nightly struggle between some really good baseball players. The courts were included in the movie 'White Men Can not Jump. A quick walk to the North and you may experience tours on Santa Monica Pier. As you can see, although Venice is known for it's counterculture type atmosphere, it really does offer entertainment for people of every walk of life.
Spend a relaxing morning among the musicians, using in free entertainment and the sights looks as you stroll down the beach.
You'll see artists, roller bladders, graphics stores, places to eat, training areas, people just going out and more.
Besides people watching check out a spot named Muscle seaside a portion of Venice Beach). Here you can view fanatic system builders pumping iron. It's fun to notice their feats of strength as walk along the beach.
If you like using excessive clothing, this is the place to do it. You will see different and special clothing from a wide range of countries and people. People show themselves to the max.
The food here is also phenomenal. I suggest eating at The Sidewalk Cafe where you can get a good meal and still will not miss any of the action. Cafe Collage is also very good and was recently chosen in the top 10 of L.A. s best bars. Space Age Cafe and Cyber Java are also worth visiting if you want a great cup of either good talk and coffee are a web connection ready for use. I love all these places, but for myself I generally choose to eat on the beach and just get some food out on the boardwalk. You can find large slices of pizza for under $1.50, or delightful shishkabobs for under $2.00. It makes me hungry just thinking about it. After eating you may want to go look, and you'll find a hip and very diverse variety of head merchants, clothing retailers, art outlets, skateboard shops, bookstores and various other stores. Religion and culture of every type is displayed here, and the costs are fairly affordable. The boardwalk is also lined with people who set up stands selling about anything you want. So take your wallet, appreciate, and don't be afraid to deal.
No I have not been to every small crevice of America, but I have traveled extensively and I'd honestly say that Venice Beach is my beloved 1-mile distance area in the entire region. There is basic no more diverse place as much as food, shopping, regular activities, and good people with good ideas in the U.S. Revolutionaries of the 60's realized this and we've been recognizing it ever since. Rick Morrison slept on rooftops here for a summer and the infamous meeting with Ray Manzarak in which The Doors was created took place on this very beach.
Find practically any rocker, dwelling and not comatose, from 70's and the 60's and I will bet they've spent time in Venice Beach. Now it is simply the best time to be had in the L.A. place. That's just my view of course, but that's all that matters in this document. As for my favorite items below, that would have to be the 'Tribute To Starry Night' mural, the guitar strumming-roller skating-rock n curler Harry Perry, the weekend 100+ people bongo circles that form at of, and dusk course the people. If you get bored with all the things mentioned above and need to re-energize, easy go to the beach, drape a cover over your head and....I will let you finish that one.
